Sprint and Alcatel-Lucent Launch SprintSecure Laptop Guardian

Carrier offers industry-first notebook security via a 3G connection card.

Notebooks have become essential tools for road warriors who want to stay productive on the go, but in toting the systems from city to city it’s becoming increasingly simple to have the machines lost or stolen. This then creates a potential disaster if sensitive data is stored within them. Fortunately, Sprint and Alcatel-Lucent offer a solution that will help safeguard data in such an unfortunate occurrence: the SprintSecure Laptop Guardian.
The SprintSecure Laptop Guardian enables 24/7 security through remote monitoring, GPS location, and locking if a notebook is lost or stolen. This locking is accomplished via a unique 3G mobile broadband connection card, which acts as an ignition key: A user must first insert it into a notebook to access the system. In addition, the card can be controlled remotely to revoke authentication privileges preventing a thief, or someone who’s found a lost notebook, from accessing valuable information. These security features are in effect even when a notebook is turned off.

Because the SprintSecure Laptop Guardian is a 3G connection card, mobile professionals can surf the Web and download files from anywhere they get cellular service. The SprintSecure Laptop Guardian is available for purchase now.
