Today, Fujitsu announced two new additions to its business notebook lineup: the LifeBook S6510 and LifeBook S2710. Designed for road warriors in need of top-notch security, the S6510 and S7210 contain many features that mobile professionals demand to stay productive on the go.
Measuring less than an inch-thick, the 14.1-inch widescreen LifeBook S6510 weighs just 4 pounds (with the standard 6-cell battery and optical drive; 3.7 pounds without the drive), and packs an array of features tailored for road warriors: a choice of speedy Intel Core 2 Duo processors (ranging from 2-GHz to 2.4-GHz clock speed), up to 4GB of RAM, a combo DVD/CD-RW or dual-layer DVD writer, a selection of shock-mounted hard drives ranging from 40GB to 120GB, a magnesium-alloy body, Turbo Memory, 1.3-megapixel webcam for videoconferencing, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, and Windows Vista Business or XP operating systems.
The security-conscious will appreciate the inclusion of a biometric fingerprint reader, TPM, a theft-deterrent security panel with more than 800,000 passwords, and the optional Computrace LoJack service, which tracks and recovers lost or stolen notebooks when they connect to the Web. A long-lasting modular bay battery can boost productivity time from 4.5 hours to over 6 hours.
The 5.2 pound LifeBook S7210 boasts the same features as S6510, but includes a dedicated Smart Card slot, an ExpressCard/54 slot, the option of Windows Vista Home Premium in addition to Vista Business and XP, and hard drives ranging from 80GB to 160GB (but it lacks the 1.3-MP camera).
The Fujitsu LifeBook S6510 ($1,529) and LifeBook S7210 ($1,329) are available for immediate purchase.
